Wild Bunch released the first official production still of Ryan in “Only God Forgives” with “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn. They are currently in Thailand to shoot the movie, which is expected to release this year. They are still under negotiations for a distributor deal.
Deadline reports that the deal with FilmDistrict never closed and instead, The Weinstein Company’s VOD/multi-platform shingle Radius — who recently snapped up the Refn produced “Pusher” remake — has beat out a number of suitors (including CBS Films) to land the movie, in what is said to be a $2.5 million pricetag. Frankly, that’s the kind of payout we’d expect from The Weinstein Company proper, not a VOD sideline gig, but we presume this deal will mark that shingle as major players.

WildBunch also has an extensive plot describtion of the movie, and Ryan’s character name is revealed: Julian.
Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.
When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand.

The production company FilmNation revealed the official log line for “Lawless“. IndieWire published an article about it.

Production company FilmNation has a logline for the film that describes the plot as following “two intersecting love triangles. It is a story of sexual obsession and betrayal set against the music scene in Austin, Texas.” And well, that’s all we have for now, but it’s the biggest detail yet about the film that is set to star a great cast including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennett. And Malick fans might want to snap up some passes for this year’s Austin City Limits fest, as we’re guessing the director will be back.
Before the end of last year, Mara revealed that the film wouldn’t be shooting until September (“Knight Of Cups” is slated to shoot first this summer). Given that we now know the film will be playing out against the backdrop of the music scene in Austin, we wouldn’t be surprised if the production schedules add some additional time to hit the festival again when it runs from October 12-14.

As you may have noticed Ryan did not attend the Golden Globes last night (January 15) even though he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama (The Ides of March) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy Or Musical (Crazy, Stupid, Love).
He didn’t win both awards, he lost them to George Clooney (The Descendants) and Jean Dujardin (The Artist).
Ryan was seen last week catching a flight at LAX Airport and according to his “The Ides of March” co-star George Clooney he did indeed flew to Thailand.
He “is in Thailand or something,” the best-actor winner, 50, said of his category rival, 31. “And you know what you do in Thailand.”
“He’s working, I think, in Thailand,” Clooney added. “He wrote me a nice letter, an email, this morning. You know, he’s gotta work, he’s gotta earn a living, he’s a struggling actor.”
Gosling’s rep earlier revealed only that the actor was “working out of the country.” He is said to be shooting Only God Forgives, a mixed martial arts movie set in Bangkok.
