THR is reporting that Ryan’s upcoming film “The Nice Guys” has found international distributor at the AFM market.
Director Shane Black’s upcoming The Nice Guys, starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, is popular around the world.
Alex Walton and Ken Kao’s new sales and financing company, Bloom, has all but sold out of Nice Guys internationally. Foreign distributors were eager to get in on the high-profile project, from Kao’s production company, Waypoint Entertainment, and Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures.
Warner Bros. has already scooped up North American rights, and will release the detective thriller in the U.S. on June 17, 2016, a prime summer berth.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Nice Guys stars Gosling as down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March and Crowe as hired leg-breaker Jackson Healy. The duo must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. Deadline is reporting (and internet is exploding while I’m typing) that Matt Bomer is joining The Nice Guys:
Matt Bomer has been set to star opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Nice Guys, the action drama that Iron Man 3‘s Shane Black wrote and is directing with Joel Silver producing at Warner Bros. I would say that Bomer plays the heavy, but he’ll be carrying little if any body fat as he comes right from Savannah after he wraps the Steven Soderbergh-directed sequel Magic Mike XXL. I can still remember when Bomer, a complete unknown, was verging on being The Guy when Brett Ratner tapped him to be Superman in the trilogy of films that got grounded. It has taken some time, but Bomer is getting his movie chance now. As his USA show White Collar ends this fall after its six season run, Bomer is now focused on big screen opportunities. That effort was helped by the chops he displayed in a heartbreaking turn as Felix Turner in HBO’s The Normal Heart, which got Bomer an Emmy nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. Bomer is also attached to play actor Montgomer Clift in the biopic Monty Clift. He’s repped by CAA, Anonymous Content’s Tony Lipp and lawyered by Steve Warren.
Black’s Nice Guys takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, and Gosling plays a detective hired by a gangster (Crowe) to find a missing girl, and in the process uncovers a dangerous conspiracy and that is where Bomer’s character comes in. The studio also set Margaret Qually, star of HBO’s The Leftovers, to play the lead female role, the daughter of a corrupt chief justice who figures in the scandal.

THR is reporting that actresses Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley joined the cast of “The Nice Guys“. They also report a November start date for the production.
The Nice Guys have found their girls.
Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley are joining Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in the Warner Bros. crime thriller, which is being directed by Shane Black. Joel Silver is producing.
The script, which Black co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi, tells of a private detective (Gosling) and a jaded racketeer (Crowe) who must team up to find a missing actress in the scuzzy, seedy and smoggy side of 1970s Los Angeles.
In a breakthrough role for the young Australian, Rice will play Gosling’s daughter who likes to occasionally tag along with her dad.
Qualley portrays a social activist who resembles a porn star named Misty Mountains. The actress, who is part of HBO’s ensemble show The Leftovers, will be making her first feature film appearance with Nice Guys.
The movie will shoot in Los Angeles and Atlanta in November.

“Ever since we did ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,’ I’ve been eager to work with Shane again, and with this film we made it happen,” Silver said. “It’s a terrific script written in Shane’s great cinematic voice. With Russell and Ryan on board, I know we’re in for another wild ride.”
Black co-wrote the script with Anthony Bagarozzi.
