You may have wondered why Ryan is not promotion “All Good Things” which stars Kristen Dunst and Frank Langella. If you read the LA Times interview you may have notice some interesting quotes of Ryan about the film.
Since we do not post gossip on this website we do not want to get into this subject too much. Well the main reason for not doing promoting is the timing -”Blue Valentine” was release in the same month-: “I try not to make too many movies. I get sick of myself, so I can imagine how everyone else feels. And for the two to come out at the same time, it makes me feel sick.”
We want to note: his project “Blue Valentine” seems like a project close to Ryan’s heart – he prepared for it for over 4 years and admitted he is really proud of his work in the film. According to the LA Times interview Ryan hesitated when they asked if he was proud of his acting in “All Good Things“. His response: “I’m proud of what Kirsten does in the movie“.
“All Good Things” is currently is selected theaters in the US and will be released on DVD / Blue-Ray on March 29, 2011.
“All Good Things” released in limited theaters on December 3. You can also watch the film via Video On Demand while it’s still in theaters.
The DVD and Blu-Ray release is March 29, 2011. I already saw the movie and Ryan is absolutely amazing. Reminds me of his earlier work, but he really grow as an actor.

After a long wait ‘All Good Things’ finally has a release date: December 2010. The trailer has been very hard to get a lengthy view. It does look like a very intense film.
Here is what EW has to say about it:
Andrew Jarecki, the filmmaker behind 2003′s riveting documentary Capturing the Friedmans, has finally found a theatrical distributor for his first feature film All Good Things, starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst. Magnolia Pictures has acquired all rights to the drama and will release the film this December.
Jarecki, who founded MovieFone prior to becoming a filmmaker, bought his film back from the Weinstein Co. in March after waiting over a year for the beleaguered player to release the drama he filmed back in 2008. All Good Things was inspired by the real-life story of Robert Durst, the real estate scion suspected of, but never tried for, killing his wife Kathie, who disappeared in 1982 and was never found. “Because it is impossible to know exactly what happened, we have not tried to replicate the history of the case, but to capture the emotion and complexity of this unsolved mystery that has for years been kept hidden from public view,” says Jarecki, who produced the film along with Marc Smerling, Michael London, and Bruna Papandrea. Jarecki developed the script with Smerling and Marcus Hinchey.
The Weinstein Co. will handle the foreign sales of the film but Jarecki is counting on the team who released Friedmans to distribute his latest endeavor stateside. All Good Things will be the second Gosling drama to bow in December. Ironically, the Weinstein Co. will bow the Sundance hit Blue Valentine, where Gosling stars opposite Michelle Williams, on Dec. 31.
-First youtube = not so trusty. Hopefully some got to see the ‘All Good Things’ trailer. It is clearly really very hush hush.
BUT Blue Valentine news, two things:
1-December 31st it is released, not sure where and how just yet
2- Blue Valentine has been added to The Toronto Internation Film Festival line up
- this one works, trusty old youtube!
This film looks brilliant, I don’t know the ‘real story’ behind this movie though. Enjoy!

Good news to hear something about this film. It is long over due to be released. On a slight downside Blue Valentines rights have been bought by Weinstein.
Director Andrew Jarecki (“Capturing the Friedmans”) has cut a deal to get the domestic theatrical rights to his feature debut “All Good Things” from the Weinstein Co. and is looking for a new U.S. distributor for the movie.
“All Good Things,” starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst is inspired by the true story of Robert Durst, the scion of a wealthy New York family who was acquitted of killing his neighbor and whose first wife vanished into thin air. Durst at one point took to dressing as a woman, and he has provided plenty of fodder for the New York tabloids over the years. Jarecki has brought the same meticulous approach to “All Good Things” that he used with the critically acclaimed documentary “Capturing the Friedmans,” which was about a New York family that is rocked by accusations of pedophilia. The director spent years investigating all aspects of the case, and the movie spans about three decades of Durst’s life.
“All Good Things” was filmed in 2008. There was talk that it was headed for a fall 2009 release, but that never materialized. There have been debates between Jarecki and the Weinstein Co. for some time about how best to release the movie.
“We had a different strategy for how we wanted to release the picture,” said David Glasser, a senior executive at the Weinstein Co. who also oversees distribution. “He purchased the rights back,” Glasser said, adding that, “this is not something we normally or traditionally do.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Jarecki, who founded Moviefone, spent several million dollars to regain the U.S. rights. Weinstein Co. paid $6 million to $8 million for the film, a person familiar with the situation said.
While the Weinstein Co. will not release the movie in the U.S., it did keep international rights for the film, as well as the basic cable television rights. Jarecki got the pay television rights back.
“It was very amicable and friendly,” Glasser said.
Jarecki’s team at Creative Artists Agency have been meeting with potential distributors and hope to have a deal in place shortly.
