Ryan and Zach released this great 12min music video for ‘Pa Pa Power’. It was filmed at Chancellor Place in California. The interaction is amazing and the particapation of the residents.
This is a review (with photos) from last weekends show. The photos are brilliant, check them out.
Good news! It turns out that I don’t hate the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts. After a recently witnessing a complete failure of a show at the out-of-the-way venue, I was worried that the venue only occasionally offered relevant shows for a reason. But Dead Man’s Bones, the musical project of Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields, is not something that comes around every day. In fact, the group (which also includes the Silver Lake Children’s Conservatory Choir) played one of the best shows I have ever been to during their last stop in town, which was on Halloween appropriately enough. But a little research into this two-night event made it clear that I was not getting the same show I had previously enjoyed. In fact, I was not going to see a show like anything I had previously seen. It is amazing what looking at a flyer or website or literally any advanced media before going to a show can do for your expectations (this goes out to the angry and confused Notebook fans who apparently didn’t bother to read anything about this ahead of time).
Dead Man’s Bones will be holding a special event July 3rd (Saturday) for $25 at the Center for Arts (same venue as last weekends concert)
They have given special instructions if you dare to come…
We are encouraging everyone attending this show to wear attire that would resemble a 50′s dance. This is not a show. This is an event. This is a sock hop. The dance you’ve waiting for and we hope that you can make it out. Ryan and Zach will be djing after Dead Man’s Bones set and we would love for everyone to stay and dance with us! It’s going to be an amazing night. This event is all ages. If you have any questions please email fyffest@gmail.com. Hope to see you on Saturday
Don’t forget if you are in the Los Angeles area on these dates go and see Dead Mans Bones perform. They have released a promotional poster which I have placed in th gallery. Check it out
Thanks to BlackBook Magazine we have this diary of a show of Dead Man’s Bones.
For copyright issues I will post a excerpt and post you the link for you to read it there;
I would only allow a picture to be taken of me if I could do 15 push-ups right before. Unfortunately, I can only do 30 push-ups each day, so there are only two pictures of me. Also, all this paint was seeping through the canvas onto the floor. We had to paint the whole floor black again before we left. Also, our friend who owned this space was pissed. Also, we’re never allowed to darken the doors here again. —Ryan
This is a portrait of two guys who have no idea what they are doing. Good thing a bunch of our friends were there to help. We spent two weekends painting through the night with them. When we finished the set, we cut out the sky and a friend sewed a bunch of Christmas lights into a sheet to make stars. After we used it at the Bob Baker shows, we took it on the road with us.
