Official Log line for “Lawless”
Posted by Lindsey on February 28, 2012 • Lawless, Movie NewsNo Comments

The production company FilmNation revealed the official log line for “Lawless“. IndieWire published an article about it.

Production company FilmNation has a logline for the film that describes the plot as following “two intersecting love triangles. It is a story of sexual obsession and betrayal set against the music scene in Austin, Texas.” And well, that’s all we have for now, but it’s the biggest detail yet about the film that is set to star a great cast including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennett. And Malick fans might want to snap up some passes for this year’s Austin City Limits fest, as we’re guessing the director will be back.

Before the end of last year, Mara revealed that the film wouldn’t be shooting until September (“Knight Of Cups” is slated to shoot first this summer). Given that we now know the film will be playing out against the backdrop of the music scene in Austin, we wouldn’t be surprised if the production schedules add some additional time to hit the festival again when it runs from October 12-14.

Ryan and his co-star Rooney Mara were seen filming for the movie or doing pre-production work last November and they will return shooting in September of this year.

A New Possible Project: “Man From U.N.C.L.E.”?
Posted by Lindsey on September 20, 2011 • Movie News, News & RumoursNo Comments

The Warp is reporting that Warner Bros is interested in a list of actors for their upcoming movie “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” and Ryan is one of them. Keep in mind that this is just a rumor, and Ryan is considered for his.

Warner Bros. is looking to freshen up a TV show from the ’60s with one of Hollywood’s emerging young stars, possibly Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgard, according to an individual close to the production.

The studio is planning a remake of “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” and plans to put some pretty heavy resources into the movie. Steven Soderbergh (left) is directing and David Dobkin, Jeffrey Kleeman and John Davis are producing.

Now the search is on for some male leads.

There was talk that George Clooney, who frequently works with Soderbergh, was set to play the lead, but the actor is not in.

The original “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. Clooney, presumably, was to play the Vaughn role.

In fact, “The Man” actually was “the men.” Vaughn and McCallum played Napolean Solo and Ilya Kuryakin — agents with the United Network Command for Law Enforcement (i.e. U.N.C.L.E.).

Their nemesis? The evil Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity (aka THRUSH).

For the McCallum role, the studio is looking for a leading man in his 20s. Executives have a wish list of about 20 of actors — people like Gordon-Levitt, Gosling, Skarsgard — it would like to see in the movie.

The original was a buddy show, and the big-screen version will be a buddy movie — an action-comedy with a tone like “Lethal Weapon,” and, like the TV show, set in the 1960s.

Ryan in Untitled Upcoming Terrence Malick movie?
Posted by Lindsey on August 25, 2011 • Movie News, News & Rumours2 Comments

FilmSchoolRejects is reporting that “Drive” director Nocolas Winding Refn said there is a possibility of Ryan joining the upcoming untitled Terrence Malick project. The movie is still untitled and it was reported Christian Bale was cast as the lead and Mia Wasikowska, Clemence Posey, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennet are considered for the female lead.

Tonight during a hilarious Q & A with Nicolas Winding Refn‘s for his near-perfect film Drive — yes, it’s about as a perfect as a movie can get — the rising auteur dropped two interesting stories. For one, apparently Ryan Gosling will soon be working with Terrence Malick. Refn briefly mentioned that Gosling may do the project after he’s done with Only God Forgives, and before Logan’s Run. Obviously, this news means we’ll be getting the remake a little later than expected.

Fortunately enough, Refn has another project to keep himself busy during that time.

Currently Drive is earning much deserved acclaim, so it’s likely plenty of offers are being thrown the dynamic filmmaker’s way. With his Hollywood stock on the rise, the big question is: What will Refn make after he’s finished Only God Forgives? As one would expect from the director, a film about women. While discussing his feminine side, Refn mentioned he will be collaborating with Carey Mulligan on another project, and that it’ll probably happen after Only God Forgives. The more Refn works, the better.

Side Note: If you can believe such a thing, Drive works even better the second time around. One would be on a fool’s mission to find a legitimate flaw with the film. Make sure to see the filmmaker’s dark, samurai love story on September 16th.

Filming for “The Place Beyond The Pines” Starts Wednesday?
Posted by Lindsey on July 25, 2011 • Movie News, The Place Beyond the Pines1 Comment

On location is reporting that “The Place Beyond The Pines” will film this Wednesday (July 27) in New York. His co-star Bradley Cooper is also expected to start filming. Let’s hope we will get some photos of Ryan on set!

Those of you hoping to catch a glimpse of the actors from “The Place Beyond The Pines” will have a chance when the crew “robs” the main branch of First National Bank of Scotia on July 27.

According to John Buhrmaster, president of First National, the branch, at 201 Mohawk Ave. in Scotia, NY, will be a location in the independent feature film “The Place Beyond The Pines”.

The movie, which stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes and Ray Liotta, follows a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. When he crosses paths with a rookie police officer, they get into a violent conflict that spirals into a generational feud.

According to John Buhrmaster, most of the July 27 filming will take place inside the First National main branch, where a robbery scene will be set. Most of the bank employees will also be used as extras in the scene since Derek Cianfrance, the director, wants it to look real. “He doesn’t want to train people to act as tellers when he can have real tellers,” Buhrmaster said.

Other scenes for the movie which is slated for a 2013 release will be shot at Ellis Hospital , Schenectady High School, the Schenectady Police Station, and some as-yet-unnamed area restaurants, filming is expected to last until October.
