10 films to watch: Sundance
Posted by Helena on January 20, 2010 • Blue Valentine, PressNo Comments

Blue Valentine already making an impression.  It has been listed by USA Today as one of the 10 films to watch.  Below is the short synopsis along with a quote from Ryan.

Blue Valentine

Ryan Gosling has explored romance in The Notebook and love in an offbeat way in Lars and the Real Girl. Here, he plays a man trying to hold together a marriage even though his wife (Michelle Williams) no longer feels the same. The movie jumps back and forth between the beginning and end of the relationship. “Sex is a really important character in the film, a bone of contention in the present and a dialogue of their love in the past. … I’ve heard (the film) described as a portrait of love falling apart, but I think they should call it an ‘erotic thriller,’ ” he says with a laugh. “That sounds way more fun.”

Peter Jackson talks about Ryan
Posted by Eli on December 10, 2009 • PressNo Comments

The Lovely Bones will be released on January,2010 and Peter Jackson is giving interviews talking about the movie. As you all know Ryan was casted but dropped the role before the shooting started. Journalists, once again, asked Jackson about that, and this is what he answered;

Is it true that you cast Ryan Gosling as her father but that he dropped out right before filming started?

Ryan had always said to us that he was just too young to play the role of a 14-year-old’s father — I think he was 26 at the time. And then the film also spans seven years, so by the time it ends, Susie’s sister is about 20, and he’d have to play the father of a 20-year-old. Ryan’s a terrific actor, and we felt that he could act his way around this problem, and we’d help him with make-up and so on.
So our attitude was, “Don’t worry, there’s a way we can fix this and you’ll be great!” But he wasn’t so sure.

And the thing that was the catalyst was that we cast Rose McIver as Susie’s sister, and while Saoirse was 14, Rose was already about 19. Ryan just couldn’t make himself believe he could be her father when he was only six years older. He just couldn’t do it. Ryan needs more reality than that in order to do his best work. So when he told me, I was like, “Well, OK,” and it was very amicable. Luckily we got Mark Wahlberg to step in.

Ricky Gervais wants Ryan on The Office
Posted by Eli on December 09, 2009 • PressNo Comments

The English actor Ricky Gervais would love to have Ryan as a guest appearance on his show The Office.
I’m going to quote the article whre it talks about Ryan. If by any chance you want to read the whole article, do it Here

[...] And that’s not all he had to tell us. Ricky has some big things in mind for The Office (which we’re just passing along for the powers that be to see—hint, hint, Greg Daniels!), including a dream guest appearance by movie star Ryan Gosling and even more Dexter chitchat from the man who calls show runner Clyde Phillips a pal…[...]

Q&A with Peter Jackson
Posted by Eli on December 06, 2009 • PressNo Comments

NYPost had a Q&A with Oscar winner director, Peter Jackson- who talked about his new movie “The Lovely bones”, as you all know, Ryan was going to be on it, but he was dropped down.
This is what Peter Jackson said on the matter:

Ryan Gosling dropped out of the film a few days before shooting began and was replaced by Wahlberg. How would the movie have differed with Gosling?

I wouldn’t have shot it differently. Ryan’s a terrific actor, but Mark Wahlberg is too, so I don’t think one or the other would’ve given a vastly different vibe to the film. Ryan felt that he was too young to play the role. By the time the film ends, he’s got a daughter who’s about 17, and he’s 26 [in real life]. The one thing with Ryan is that he has to believe in who he’s playing in order to do his job properly. He was having difficulty, and we were persuading him it was going to be OK. It really came to a head about three weeks before shooting started when the other actors arrived on set and we started rehearsing. Seeing [21-year-old] Rose McIver, who plays his daughter, he just found it so difficult to be in scenes with her. [The split] was very amicable. It didn’t have anything to do with arguing or fighting with each other. And it didn’t have anything to do with his acting ability. He’s like the Marlon Brando of our generation. It was just an age thing.

Wettest County director talks about the cast
Posted by Eli on November 18, 2009 • Press, Wettest CountyNo Comments

The director of the future Wettest County was interviewed by The California Chronicle and gave some hints on the possible cast of his future film Wettest County.
As the article is quite long, and we don’t want to be sued for plagiarism, I’m going to post a excerpt of it, and give you the link to the actual articile for you to read it.

[...] He let it slip during an interview with an Internet movie site that LaBeouf and Gosling are considering lead roles, which may include portrayals of whiskey-making Franklin County brothers who shoot it out with lawmen. [...]

Gosling, 29, has starred in numerous movies, including “The Notebook,” “The Believer” and “Lars and the Real Girl.”

“The Wettest County in the World,” however, is still far from getting to the screen. The project has languished for much of the past year and a half, with few updates appearing in Hollywood publications or film Web sites.

After mentioning LaBeouf and Gosling’s potential involvement during an interview with AtomicPopcorn.com, Hillcoat added, “I shouldn’t really talk about it cause it’s in the middle of all sorts of stuff.” He also said of the film’s prospects, “It’s really tough out there.” [...]
