Early Life

Ryan Thomas Gosling was born, 12 November 1980, in London, Ontario son of Thomas and Donna Gosling. Ryan was second of their two children. His mother Donna is a secretary and his father Thomas is a a paper mill worker. His parents divorced when Ryan was young. When Ryan was younger he got bullied at school so his mother withdrew him from school and taught him at home when he was 10. After returing to a public school system he went to Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School and dropped out when he was 17 years old.

Career

Ryan started his career when he was 13 he appeard in the 6th and 7th season of the The Mickey Mouse Club alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. Later he will be appearing in Flash Forward, Young Hercules, and Ron Oliver’s Goosebumps and Breaker High. His break trough in the United States was with the controversial drama The Believer in 2001. The Believer won a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The succes of the film led to future films including Murder by Numbers. In 2004 Ryan co-starred with Canadian actress Rachel McAdams in the romantic drama The Notebook.

In 2006 Ryan will be the lead in the film Half Nelson, a film about a drug-addicted, junior high school history teacher, and he won Best Actor category at the Spirit Awards and got nominated for an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Broadcast Film Critics Association award as best actor. A year later in 2007 Ryan will be alongside Anthony Hopkins in the film Fracture and in december of that year Ryan gets a nomination for Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in Lars and the Real Girl.

Ryan will make his debut as a DJ in 2008 and he will be invited more after his first performance. Ryan is currently working on his debut album Never Let a Lack of Talent Get You Down.

Personal Life

Ryan divides his time between Toronto, Canada and Los Angeles, USA. He has a dog George whom he rescued from a kennel. He started a relationship with Sandra Bullock his co-star in Murder with Numners. In 2004 he will be starting a relationship with his co-star from the Notebook, Rachel McAdams. Ryan announced their breakup in the November 2007 after dating her for a few years. In 2008 they are photographed together but after a few months they will break-up again.
