THR is reporting that Ryan’s upcoming film “The Nice Guys” has found international distributor at the AFM market.

Director Shane Black’s upcoming The Nice Guys, starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, is popular around the world.

Alex Walton and Ken Kao’s new sales and financing company, Bloom, has all but sold out of Nice Guys internationally. Foreign distributors were eager to get in on the high-profile project, from Kao’s production company, Waypoint Entertainment, and Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures.

Warner Bros. has already scooped up North American rights, and will release the detective thriller in the U.S. on June 17, 2016, a prime summer berth.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Nice Guys stars Gosling as down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March and Crowe as hired leg-breaker Jackson Healy. The duo must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

New York Times’ Vulture announced their annual Most Valuable Stars list. Just like the previous years Ryan is part of it. Ryan ranks #71 in the general list. Ryan also ranks #38 at Action Stars, #48 at Drama Stars, #56 Most Respected, #9 Tabloid Target, #98 at International Stars, #84 at Studio Stars.

Ryan Gosling – The Enigma

He may have fathered a baby with Eva Mendes this year (which accounts for his highest-possible tabloid score), but it’s apropos that Ryan Gosling should be ranked this low on the list right alongside his former flame, Rachel McAdams. Both stars will always boast built-in awareness levels thanks to the everlasting power of The Notebook, but neither is ruling Hollywood like they truly could. After a string of indies, Gosling took too much time off to direct the inscrutable Lost River; he’ll return to the studio fold with Shane Black’s The Nice Guys but he could really use a high-profile pop right now.

Rank Compared to 2012: -49
Domestic Box Office: $28,232,104
Overseas Box Office: $24,556,309
Studio Value: 7
Likeability: 58%
Oscars: 0 wins, 1 nom
Critics’ Score: 68
Twitter Mentions: 2,964
Tabloid Value: 10

Some additional rankings when making your own adjustments. Ryan ranks #96 when you only adjust Domestic Box Office, #97 at International Box Office, #37 at Studio Value, #78 at Likeability, #48 at Oscars, #43 at Critics’ Score, #18 at Twitter Mentions, and #2 at Tabloid Value.

The Hollywood Reporter – Ryan Gosling may finally be ready to take on a big studio franchise.

The actor has in the past resisted joining superhero-style tentpole movies, especially those that would require him to appear in sequels. But now there are signs that Gosling might be softening his stance.

In recent weeks, the 33-year-old actor has met with Marvel Studios to discuss starring in the title role in Doctor Strange, and he is fielding an offer to topline Summit’s adaptation of The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero. Sources also say he is being courted to star in Suicide Squad, David Ayer’s take on the DC Comics supervillain team at Warner Bros.

Marvel has been casting a wide net for Strange ever since talks with Joaquin Phoenix broke down. Sources say that Jared Leto and Justin Theroux have been chasing the role, while Ethan Hawke’s name also has surfaced as has Keanu Reeves.

It is unclear when the movie would go into production but Marvel has staked out a July 8, 2016 release dates.

Houdini, with Dean Parisot attached to direct, was to have starred Johnny Depp but the actor will be sailing with a new installment of Pirates of the Caribbean for almost half of 2015. Summit ideally would like to get going before that.

Deadline is reporting (and internet is exploding while I’m typing) that Matt Bomer is joining The Nice Guys:

Matt Bomer has been set to star opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Nice Guys, the action drama that Iron Man 3‘s Shane Black wrote and is directing with Joel Silver producing at Warner Bros. I would say that Bomer plays the heavy, but he’ll be carrying little if any body fat as he comes right from Savannah after he wraps the Steven Soderbergh-directed sequel Magic Mike XXL. I can still remember when Bomer, a complete unknown, was verging on being The Guy when Brett Ratner tapped him to be Superman in the trilogy of films that got grounded. It has taken some time, but Bomer is getting his movie chance now. As his USA show White Collar ends this fall after its six season run, Bomer is now focused on big screen opportunities. That effort was helped by the chops he displayed in a heartbreaking turn as Felix Turner in HBO’s The Normal Heart, which got Bomer an Emmy nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. Bomer is also attached to play actor Montgomer Clift in the biopic Monty Clift. He’s repped by CAA, Anonymous Content’s Tony Lipp and lawyered by Steve Warren.

Black’s Nice Guys takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, and Gosling plays a detective hired by a gangster (Crowe) to find a missing girl, and in the process uncovers a dangerous conspiracy and that is where Bomer’s character comes in. The studio also set Margaret Qually, star of HBO’s The Leftovers, to play the lead female role, the daughter of a corrupt chief justice who figures in the scandal.

THR is reporting that actresses Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley joined the cast of “The Nice Guys“. They also report a November start date for the production.

The Nice Guys have found their girls.

Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley are joining Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in the Warner Bros. crime thriller, which is being directed by Shane Black. Joel Silver is producing.

The script, which Black co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi, tells of a private detective (Gosling) and a jaded racketeer (Crowe) who must team up to find a missing actress in the scuzzy, seedy and smoggy side of 1970s Los Angeles.

In a breakthrough role for the young Australian, Rice will play Gosling’s daughter who likes to occasionally tag along with her dad.

Qualley portrays a social activist who resembles a porn star named Misty Mountains. The actress, who is part of HBO’s ensemble show The Leftovers, will be making her first feature film appearance with Nice Guys.

The movie will shoot in Los Angeles and Atlanta in November.
